Sunday 4th November 2012 - Lawson Falls

A couple of weeks ago we had a day at Dyers Picnic Ground in the Bunyip State Forrest. Our friends continued on that day to Lawson Falls. We elected to go home on that occasion and have a go at a later date. yesterday was that later date.
First port of call was one of Melbourne's water reservoirs, Cardinia Reserve. This wasn't on the agenda. But we found it. And a kangaroo oer two. The kids loved it. Not sure about the kangaroo though.
As we continued on to Gembrook, we found Emerald. The kids decided to play in the park next door and pat some horses which just happen to be right by. The horse riders were kind enough to let the kids pat the horses.
Gembrook was next and there is a convenient map with which to get our bearings.
Here one can see the damage done by the 2009 Black Saturday fires. The fire was so hot, it burnt the seed in the ground. It was hot. Very. Australia natives need heat to crack the seeds to get germination. that fire was so hot it cooked the seeds.
Here is part of the Victorian power grid. It cuts straight through the forest.
Lawson Falls picnic Ground. And that was as close as we got to the Falls. Some how we missed the falls completely. I am sure they are sign posted. We missed the sign.
There are some magnificent views through the fire damaged trees. The fire was not good, but it did make way for some good scenery.
Further on we encountered Seven Acres Rock. Again there are some magnificent view.
Last port of call was a quick visit to Kurth Kiln. No pictures from there as it was only a look see for a later trip.
Till next time.........
