Not that we ever had them. For the house we are slowly turning into a home. We knew when we first looked at the place there would be a lot of work to knock it into some sort of shape. I have spent the last weekend and yesterday on the girls bedroom. Now it is starting to take shape. Today should complete the painting. I need to go round the door frame and skirting boards again and then there is the window frames.
The window frames through out the house are timber and still have their natural timber look. They have been varnished in the past and I intend to keep that natural timber look. I will use Estapol. I am using high gloss for the interior of the house.
One of the toilets is to be replaced. The cistern doesn't work properly and the seat leaves something to the imagination.
The kitchen stove was fitted yesterday and the electrics upgraded.
Tomorrow it is the carpets. The three bedroom need to have carpets fitted.
And we are just about a week from moving in. So much to do and so little time. Yet it will be done. At times it has seemed overwhelming. Slowly.
I guess it begs the question to be asked. Why? Why did we finish up purchasing a house to turn into a home that needed so much work? We spent six months looking for a house. Our requirements were simple. Three bedrooms and two living areas with a price tag of around 300-350k. It needed to be within walking distance to shops, schools and public transport, with no busy roads to cross. Sounds simple, doesn't it. Not so. In the locations we chose and in looking at so many houses we found nothing, and that was even looking at the higher price bracket. Then we looked to see what we could compromise on. We decided that if we could find the right location with a yard big enough, we would go for one living area. And so we arrived at where we are now.
Enough for now. Till next time.....
