Saturday 22nd September 2007 Snoring...

Those are my girls. Cathy, on the right, was laying on our bedroom floor and Michele got down beside her. That photo is the result. I think they look similar.
Why the title? Well, that's what happened in our study this afternoon. Stephanie was in the kitchen cooking up one of her culinary master pieces. Michele was out side doing her nurse bit for our sick flea bag also known as a dog. Cathy and I, meanwhile, were siting back in a comfy lounge chair I have deposited in our study. And we snored. Both of us. Loudly so I am told. Our evening meal? Italian chicken with Jasmine rice and mixed steamed vegetables. Yum Yummy.
Now I want to get cranked up a bit. I am on a parenting forum which at this time shall remain nameless. It is a good forum. We have been involved in it for a year or so now and it has helped us greatly.
However an incident occurred recently that caused me great dismay and led me to question the ethics of some involved. This forum is a Christian forum. That is, those involved are supposed to be Christians. One of the dear folk has discovered that one of her back neighbours is a gentleman of questionable reputation who has done some things that one doesn't discuss in gentle Christian company. Now these events occurred some 20 years ago. He did the crime and did the time and to the best of antibody's knowledge hasn't re offended. However, the lady in question has got up in arms and is now considering moving. She wrote along those lines in the forums. The tut tutting that went on made a gossip column look tame. That is until I put my two cents worth in. I informed people that I was glad that Christ didn't bring up things that I did when I was young and stupid, with the emphasis on stupid.
We all do things that we know we shouldn't. Some of us are even ashamed of those things. But if we have repented of them then that should be that. Similarly, we shouldn't condemn people because of something that happened 20 or more years ago. If we worry about what this or that person may or may not have done,we are going to spent half our lives worrying about it. Every one deserves a fair go. That person who might have done wrong in the past, is he or she going to do it now? And how do you decide who will and who wont? Did Christ continue to raise a persons past? I don't think so. In fact the only people Christ got stuck into were the religious bigots. And they should have known better.
Yes, I agree, be on your guard. But don't condemn people that it not our place. I will protect my family as best I know how. But I wont wrap them up in cotton wool. That is counter productive.
