Saturday 15th January 2011 - Me and my big mouth

I like blogs. Not many, but there are a few that are worth reading. Internet Monk is one of them. Some of it is quite hard hitting. Take this one for example.
Here is a quote: "Jesus is not a self-help guru. He is not interested in you becoming a better person. He could not care less with you improving in any area of your life. Because in the end that is your life. Yours. And he demands you give it to him. All of it. An unconditional surrender. He did not come to improve you, or encourage you, or spur you on to bigger and better things. He came to raise the dead. And if you insist on living, then you’re on your own. Good luck. Sign up for all the seminars, workshops and marriage improvement weekends that you can, because you’re going to need them.
The Gospel is this: We are dead in our sins. Jesus, too, is dead in our sins. But because he is very God of very God, death could not hold him. He conquered sin and death and rose again. And the only life we are now offered is the life he lives in us. Period. He wants us dead. He’ll do the rest."
Go read the rest. I don't always agree with him. This time I do.
That brings me to back to the subject line of this entry. Me and my big mouth. Got me into trouble again, or should I say, as usual. Seems some one I know didn't like to be challenged about their rather public bad mouth. Seems they want to use it as an excuse to be the "real them". Sounds like something from that over popular self help guru-ess from "These United States of Umericu" This person has 2 daughters that she is attempting to raise to be Godly Daughters. Or maybe not. Anyway, that is not the point. In the flow of the conversation she said that shouldn't have to deny who she is or censor what she says and that I was being a judgemental old bag of wind and some other not so nice descriptions. All true of course, I plead guilty to all of them. Trouble is you see, she is claiming to be a believer in Christ, what ever that is these days. Well that being the case we have a slight problem. For starters, her language made her out to be a liar. The real person is not revealed until they have died to self and are alive in Christ. It is Christ in you that reveals the real you. The person concerned also objected to my censoring of her bad mouth. Oops, did I miss something here? I thought society censored us? I am getting old. Again, maybe I missed something. To a degree society censors what we are permitted to say and do all the time. Society maybe hypocritical, but it still sets the standard.
I believe one of  my crimes was that I was condemning her? Oops, did I again miss something. So far as I am aware, my comment was about her mouth, not her as a person.
Oh, well, can't please everyone.
Till next time........
