Wednesday 15th September 2010 - The woman in my life.

There is only one. And there is a picture of her taken in our kitchen this very day. Stephanie, the love of my life. And today I got to do something I have wanted to do for ages. Spoil her. Do you have any idea how good it is to be able to lavish some attention on the only lady? There aren't any others. Other men may think they have the best woman. They don't. I do. We have been married 8 years, but it seems a heart beat.
Thank you Stephanie for being the best. And thank you for allowing me the privilege of spoiling you.

This photo was taken Monday morning at Michele's assembly. Michele is in the front row, fifth from the left. There are two classes and they are performing "There's a gumtree on a hill". There are actions that go with this song. Michele will sing until the cows come home, but will not do the actions. No sir, it's not happening.

Did I mention that Stephanie is a most excellent cook? Oh, well, she is. We have cooking competitions between us to see who can out do who. I guess we will have to keep trying as the jury is still out on who is the best.

Here is me mate. Cathy. Taken this morning. After preschool. She loves preschool. Stephanie and I had returned home, Timothy had been fed and nappy changed and I took the opportunity to photograph Stephanie with her hair done.
No, don't look for photo's of me. There aren't any. Sorry about that.

Now for the question of the day. How do I read my Bible. Or how do I interpret my Bible. Am I literalistic, or and allegorist in my understanding? Neither. I read the Bible as read unless obviously otherwise intended. So in a sense I am literalistic in my understanding. I don't try to read something into the scripture that is not there. A parable is a story. It is not intended to be taken literally. However, the creation account is a record of something that happened. It may or may not be seven literal days. But it is seven time periods, or days. The word day is not defined. It may or may not be seven 24 hour time periods. The Bible is clear that it is seven day/night time periods. But that time period is not defined. So, let me sort of move things along a bit.
When I read Genesis I read it as a historical record of events that occurred. Exodus the same, with some laws and so on thrown in for good measure. Leviticus similarly, as is Esther and so on. Esther is considered one of the prophetic books. That it not what the Bible would indicate. Neither Ezra or Nehemiah. They also are a historical record of events that took place. Psalms and Proverbs are obviously poetry and partly prophetical. The prophetical parts have proven to be literal. Especially Psalm 22 I think it it. Kings and Chronicles and Samuel, also historical records of events that took place. There maybe some future prophetical content, but largely they are historical accounts. Isaiah Ezekiel also largely prophetical. Daniel is part historical and part prophetical. In view of the prophecy's contained within Psalms, I would contend that the prophecy's contained within Daniel should also be read literally. This is by no means a complete listing, but I think you now get my understanding.
Now to the New Testament. Matthew to Acts, literal historical records unless otherwise obvious. An example would be the Parables of Jesus. Corinthians to Jude are all letters, with Revelation being historical record to  start and ending with prophecy. And again, I would contend that as John would have no words to describe what he was seeing, it should be literal. I don't know how that plays out. Lets wait and see.
