This is in response to a post in a thread in Facebook.
It's about homosexuality and the life style and the Biblical position. God calls it an abomination. He decreed that man should be with woman and not man with man or woman with woman. Look in Genesis 1 and Romans 1.
"Thank you Lionel, I couldn't have put it better. My own opinion, long before becoming a believer in Christ, was that the life style wasn't nice. I guess it proves the point in Romans 1 that we are all born with this inner knowledge of the Almighty and His requirements for us. Then when I started to read Leviticus it all made sense. The more in fact that I examined God's law and the demands He made and stacked them up against history the more sense it made.
Having said all that, I work with 700+ men in my job. There are many who have this life style. I respect them even if I do disagree with their life style. They know my thoughts and respect me. We could not work together if we displayed the attitude I have seen in this thread.
I also have a close friend who is Jewish and homosexual. He parents died when he was very young. This guy is one of the nicest people I have ever met. I wish you and Jacob could meet him. I have never heard him say a bad thing about anyone, and I have known him for 11 years. And love him like he was my own brother. Recently I jokingly said to my niece that we ought to adopt him into my family.
You see it is possible to disagree with a person and their life style. It is possible to love them and even enjoy their company. For example, I don't know Jacob, I have never met him. But I have no doubt, that despite his antagonising and some time patronising attitude in here, that he is a really nice fellow. But his attitude puts people off side and so we can't have meaningful discussion and more importantly, get to know him."
OK, so I guess even my position is wrong. For the Bible tells me that I oughtn't to have fellowship with such a person. But I need to balance that with Christ's own attitude.
