The leader of the oposition and all that

I can't help myself. I did say I was a bit opinionated didn't I?
Well I am. How many have followed the drama surrounding his wife and her company that she has built up from scratch? Now that company has been found to be diddling it's workers by getting them to agree to some questionable work practices and pay rates. Now note, if you will, the current opposition political party in the land down under is Labour, or Labor if your an American. Labour is the working man's party, right? And the lady in question is the leader of the working man's party, right?. But now she has decided to sell the Australian section of the company she started, out of concern for her Australian employees? Now I might be a bit thick, but, did I miss something here? Wouldn't it have made more sense to have kept ownership of that bit of the company and went into bat for her employees? Oh, and guess what folks? This is federal election year in the land down under.
I had a bit of a chat with some of my fellow employees about this one. They find it all OK. Maybe they are blind. It always strikes me a bit strange. If Labour does it, it is OK coz labour did it. Oh, paaaallllleeezzzz. Of, course come election time this will all be forgotten very conveniently.
You disagree with me? There is something wrong with my thinking? Then please feel free to comment.

Thursday 31st May 2007 Ezekiel 10-11

Stephanie and I had a bit of a chat today about these chapters, in fact about all the prophetic books and how they relate to us. A lot of people, in fact doubt, that the Old Testament has relevance to us today. I believe it does. Now this is my opinion. I believe, at this time, that the church is the spiritual if you will, nation of Israel. That is my opinion. It may or may not be true but I believe it is.

Take a look at 2 Chronicles 7:14. Who are God's people? Who are called by His name? Is that not us? Don't get me wrong, God hasn't forgotten, nor is He finished with the nation of Israel. But, in my opinion, for the time being we're it.

Any one see that web page "Amos visits America?" For those of you who did it was a bit hard hitting. It was to me. Ezekiel is a bit like that. The people had taken articles from the temple and made idols out of them. How does that relate? Well, it just might be possible that some folk might have made idols out of some things from the church.

Today's text is very sobering. The Glory of God left the temple. The seriousness of that can't be over stressed. Imagine if the Holy Spirit was to depart the church? The implications of that don't bare thinking about. It is the stuff nightmares are made of.

So that was today's Bible reading from St Luke's. There was lots in it. Some of it quite scary.

On to other things. As I write this every one, except me, is in bed. Stephanie has a good dose of the flu. Catherine has decided that beside mum is the place to be. And Michele is in her bed examine the insides of her eye lids. She is asleep.

Work was interesting. The last train I did today I left on time from in town and arrived here 10 minutes late. How come I lost so much time? I caught up with the train in front of me. What was the matter with him? I don't know. I hope tomorrow is better as I have to drive into town and drive home in my car. I am going out tomorrow night and don't want to be late. Then I have a 4 day break.

Oh, by the way, Catherine is 13 weeks old and full of smiles. I am amazed at how well the two girls get on. And pleased. And you can teach a 13 week old to put her legs down when your changing a diaper. You can also tickle her and get smiles from her. But she will pee on the change table if you giver her a chance. Your not interested in that, do I hear you say? Oh, sorry. I wont say it again.

Enough for now.

Tuesday 29th May 2007 Ezekiel 6-7

This is today's Bible reading for St Lukes in Frankston. It's a tough one. I will confess, I know precious little about Old Testament prophecy. A lot of it goes straight over my head. But I like Ezekiel. I mean, imagine this if you will. Here is this fellow. He lies on one side for 390 days then switches and lies on the other for 40 days. Then he cuts of his hair. Burns one third of it after carefully weighing. I wonder how much notice people took of him. I wonder what would happen if one of our church leaders did this today just how much notice we would take of them. We would probably call out the men from the nearest hospital and have him certified.
Ezekiel was speaking to the nation. Our leaders speak to us, or should at least, on behalf of God. Would we, do we heed them?
Let me float this one up there for us all to ponder: We should. They speak for God, to us from Him. Do we take God seriously? We should. Look at what God does to Israel in these 2 chapters. He is giving them fair warning. They have taked items from God's Holy house. Then changed them and made idols to worship. Hey, don't we do the same? What's the difference?
You don't believe me? OK, let me put this one to you. Music was given to us as one form, or way if you please, of expressing our love for God and to God. Right? Yes, I hear you say. But hang on a minute. Does God like what we sing and how we sing it? What is the motive? Do we mean what we sing? Is it from the heart? Who is being pleased? God? or is it us? See what I mean?

Day 1

So, I have finally done it. Created my very own blog. What goes in here? Well, since I can be opinionated, I guess just about everything and anything.
Some things to look for:
1. My family. My darling wife, Stephanie, and our 2 daughters, Michele and Catherine.
2. All things Christian. Things I like, and things I don't. Oh, since we attended St Lukes at Frankstons, just now, there will be from time to time, Bible readings. Yes, they have a Bible reading plan. Go here: www.stlukesfrankston.com.au and follow the prompts.
3. Other things which I might get cranked up about.
Enough of my dribble for now.
